Listening is another significant input way in terms of language acquisition. Most teachers unfortunately ignore listening skills. However, just like babies, we need to listen to produce the correct sounds, so it is important to focus on listening through different activities such as music and dictogloss and strategies such as bottom-up and top-down listening.🎧

Filling Gaps Activity

In this activity, learners are supposed to listen to the Bad Habits song to complete the song by filling in the gaps. Then, they are going to compare their answers as partners Therefore, they will learn the infinitive form of a verb as well as improving listening, speaking, and vocabulary skills.

Top-Down and Bottom-up Activity

Learners are supposed to listen to the video for the main idea. They get used to the video, voice, etc. Then, the teacher distributes the worksheet to the students. Students should guess missing words. After that, the Optimistic Teacher plays the video and asks students for filling the gaps while listening and watching the video.
